California Department of Tax and Fee Administration Announces New Sales and Use Tax Rates Operative July 1, 2019

Sacramento – The California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA) reminds Californians that new sales and use tax rates will take effect July 1, 2019. The new rates are the result of voter-approved initiatives. The tax rate changes listed below apply only within the indicated city or county limits.

Countywide Tax Rate Increase Old Rate New Rate
San Mateo County (the rate applies in all unincorporated areas and in incorporated cities that do not impose a district tax.) 8.750% 9.250%
City of Belmont 9.250% 9.750%
City of Burlingame 9.000% 9.500%
City of East Palo Alto 9.250% 9.750%
City of Redwood City 9.250% 9.750%
City of San Mateo 9.000% 9.500%
City of South San Francisco 9.250% 9.750%
Citywide Tax Rate Increases Old Rate New Rate
City of Glendora (Los Angeles County) 9.500% 10.250%

To find the correct rate for your home or business location, visit www.cdtfa.ca.gov and click the “Tax and Fee Rates” button. Please note that the new rates will not be available online until July 1, 2019, when they take effect.
