When can I renew my IFTA License and acquire new IFTA decals for the upcoming year?
You can renew your IFTA License and acquire new IFTA decals beginning December 1st of the current year, and any time after.
How can I renew my IFTA License and acquire new IFTA decals?
Your account must be in good standing to renew your IFTA License and acquire new IFTA decals. For your account to be in good standing, you must file all required IFTA returns and be current on all your tax payments.
To renew your IFTA license go to the CDTFA website. Select Login to enter your username and password. Then, select the IFTA License and Decal Account, select the renewal period, select Order IFTA Decals, submit your renewal and make the renewal payment (All steps must be taken to receive the decals).
The cost of renewing your IFTA license is the annual fee of $10.00 per carrier plus $2.00 for each set of decals.
What happens if I fail to renew my IFTA license?
If you fail to renew your IFTA License, your IFTA accounts will be closed by the Motor Carrier Office (MCO).
If you continue to operate a qualified motor vehicle without a valid IFTA License, you may be subject to a citation, a fine, a penalty, and possible seizure and sale of your vehicle. In addition, you are required to purchase fuel trip permits to travel into or through each jurisdiction.
What if I don't receive my IFTA decals by December 31st?
As long as you filed and paid for your IFTA renewal by December 31st of the current year, and the account is in good standing, you are provided a grace period until the end of February of the following year to receive the IFTA Decals.

How long does it take to receive my decals once I submitted my renewal request and paid?
It can take approximately 4-8 weeks to receive your IFTA decals.

Can I operate before receiving the IFTA decals once, I renew my IFTA License?
Yes, you can. You have the option to print the Temporary IFTA Permit and IFTA License by logging on to your online profile, selecting the IFTA License and Decal account, then select “Print Temporary IFTA Permit” and “Print IFTA License” for each vehicle.
How long can I operate with the Temporary IFTA Permit?
The temporary IFTA Permit is valid only for 30 days. If you have not received your IFTA decal and the 30-Day permit is approaching its expiration, please call the Motor Carrier Office at 1.800.400.7115.
My IFTA License and Decal account is closed. How can I renew for the current year?
You will need to call the Motor Carrier Office at 1.800.400.7115 for assistance.
