Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Fee – Filing Claims for Refund

The California Department of Tax and Fee Administration bills and collects the Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Fee based on instructions we receive from the Department of Health Services, Childhood Lead Branch (Department). Based on those instructions, we send the feepayers a Notice of Determination for the amount specified by the Department. If you have overpaid any amount to the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration, you may file a claim for refund using form CDTFA-101, Claim for Refund or Credit. The claim should specify the period and the amount of refund that is being claimed. The claim for refund must be in writing, be signed by you, and state the reason(s) why an overpayment was made.

If your claim is that you overpaid the amount of your bill, we will grant the refund if an overpayment was made.

If your claim is filed on the grounds that the amount billed and paid was excessive or was not owed, we will send the claim to the Department for its consideration. Claimants should work with the Department and us to resolve these claims.
